Halloween, Autumn, and a Huge Shovel

The Corpse Bride on Halloween

Happy Halloween!
Marina captures the mood of Halloween with a goofy self-portrait.
Lincoln's Veteran's day program.  He is the kid on the back row right.  He sang like he was the only one there though.

If it is November, it's Iron Mission Days at Frontier Homestead Museum.  It was a very cold day, but we braved the weather for the fun.

The newest thing at Frontier Homestead is a HUGE electric shovel that was used in the Cedar City mines in the 1930s.  It was quite a feat to move the thing to the museum, but the journey was chronicled.
We took the kids and their cousins Kyle and Jax to check it out.  That is just the scoop of the shovel they are sitting in.

Fairy parties, fish, Batman, and song

This is a dress that my grandmother made me when I was about Marina's age.  We have a couple of them, and I love seeing Marina wear them.

We got 10 goldfish to come live in our aquarium.  After a food mishap, only one fish is still living.  We are still trying to come up with the best name for the survivor fish.  Dexter, H.H. Holmes, and several other serial killer names are under discussion.

Marina also wanted to be the genie

Marina's Fairy Birthday Party (only two months after her birthday!)
Everyone made wings and wands to prepare to become fairies.

Marina was a super cute fairy

Lincoln made the fairy of death, which is why the somber face.  He said that the fairy of death does not smile.  He is probably right.

After wings were made and fairy dust applied, the fairies had to go save the wuzzles (they look like balloons, but they can't touch the ground)

After saving the wuzzles and defending against a candy ogre, they all needed a treat.

For Ryan's birthday, we bought tickets to Batman Live!  Lincoln, Ryan and I attended, and it was pretty sweet!

Some of the Festival publications that I work on won and award this year.  Yeah!

Ryan and the Boy Scouts Band.  They only perform once a year during musical chairs.

Marina made a ghoul bus for Halloween.  So scary!

Lincoln's first costume for the ward party.  he is planning to be a viking on Halloween

Marina's costume for the early Halloween party.  She is planning to be the corpse bride on Halloween.

We attended the livestock parade with Karlene and Jesse.  What a good time!

The parade finale - the sheep!

Marina's pumpkin.  She drew the face and carved it herself.

Here are the school pictures for this year.  It took a while to get them since Lincoln was sick on the day they took the pictures.

Lincoln has been signing the songs from Les Miserables since he saw the play last month.  I caught him singing, but I did not get the video of him, because I thought he would stop singing.  He has a pretty nice voice!
