Cookies for the Children

Marina says she can't come talk about the blog right now because she is making cookies for the children.  She has really been enjoying her new play dishes.  She cooks throughout the day, every day.

Marina loved spending a whole day with her Grandpa Paul and Kara.  Her favorite part was playing at the playground (the picture is of her running her food window at the playground - thank you Grandpa Paul!).  She would take pretend orders, run into the little house, and come back with all our food (wood chips).  Marina really liked Monsters vs. Aliens.  Her favorite monsters were the red one, the blue one and the green one.

Marina was really good during Lincoln's play.  She said her favorite part was all the singing and dancing.  My favorite comment from her was after the scene where the queen was questioning whether or not Princess Fred was really a princess.  When the scene was over, Marina whispered very seriously, "She is possibly not a princess."

Marina helped make homemade pizza yesterday.  Her favorite topping to put on (and the eat before it was put on) was green peppers.  She also loved the rolls we made with the extra dough.  That is about all she wanted to eat today.

Once Upon a Mattress

Lincoln's play, Once Upon a Mattress, was last Thursday and Friday.  He did four performances in two days.  His Grandpa Paul and Kara came one day, and his Grandpa Bob and Grandma Valene came the other.  The matinees had over 700 people attending for each one.  Lincoln liked performing in front of the kids because he says it made it more fun to do the play in front of people.  Lincoln's favorite part of the play was the ending because that is when he got to hold a weapon.  (At the end of the play, they pull all sorts of armor and tools out from under the princess' mattress).  Lincoln's favorite song was "Fred."  His favorite part of that song sounds like a cheerleader chant, "With an F, and and R, and an E, and a D!  With an F-R-E-D Fred!  After his performances, he got to spend a whole day with Grandpa Paul and Kara.  They played at Park Discovery (Lincoln went fishing there), went swimming, flied a kite, and saw the movie Monsters vs. Aliens.  Lincoln's favorite part was when Susan hits the alien in the face.  His favorite monster in the movie was all of them!  Lincoln also got to eat at his favorite places this week - the chinese buffet (he calls it the chinese buffett) and Sizzler (he loves the ice cream there).  Lincoln had a very good week.

Lincoln's Many Talents

Lincoln has been very busy the last couple of weeks. He is still rehearsing for the play Once Upon a Mattress, and his performances are this week. One day, Lincoln decided that he wanted to build something out of wood. He and his dad made a box out of wood to hold his tools. Here is the result.

Lincoln also build a castle out of cards - he was very proud of the results.

Lincoln also designed his costume for Once Upon a Mattress. Here is his design. His costume will actually look very much like this.

Lincoln has also been spending a lot of time drawing. Here are a couple that he is most proud of. One is a picture of many animals. The other is a picture of a
burglar.

The Knight Princess

Lincoln is playing a King's Man in Once Upon a Mattress, and he has a very cool costume.  To get into the spirit, Marina got her own knight costume.  Her sword is a hanger, and she only cut the heads off bad people!

Marina has been loving to draw the last couple of weeks.   She has made elaborate drawings, which she wanted to mail to nana, papa, and Kara.  She has also started drawing people - this is a self portrait.

Marina loves to dance, especially when there is a musical on TV, and especially if that musical is Thoroughly Modern Millie.  She really loves that one!

Marina is looking forward to Easter - every time she sees and Easter basket, she can hardly stand it.  It will come soon enough!

Sis

This week, Marina went to Salt Lake with Kami.  She got to spend time with her cousins Will and Carter.  Both Will and Carter are going to have baby sisters soon, so Marina decided she was too.  She is not going to have a baby sister, but we can't convince her of that!  Marina has started writing letters this week.  Right now, she only writes the letter T, but she has sidewalk chalk and will learn some more soon.  Marina went to the Draper Temple open house with her grandma, and had fun.  She wanted to give Jesus a hug when she was there though.  She said she'd have to give him a hug the next time she went to the temple.  Marina got to go to Jungle Jim's Playland and ride all the rides.  She rode all of them, even the fast ones, by herself.  After every ride, she'd run off and say, "I want to ride some more!"  It was great fun!  She can't wait to go again.  Marina also got some dishes so she is having a great time play cooking.  She has made waffles, cookies, and brownies just today.

Now, it's Marina's turn to type:

Rehearsals, Rehearsals, Rehearsals!

Lincoln has been very busy with rehearsals for Once Upon a Mattress.  Here he is doing a dance called the Spanish Panic.  Next is Licoln showing off for the camera.  Third is Licoln with Charlie, the other Kings Man.  Then, there is Lincoln thinking about the depths of his character.  Finally,  here are the directors of the play, with Lincoln in the background dancing.

Also this week, we went to the Scout's blue and gold banquet.  There was a cake auction, and Lincoln wanted a cake.  Lincoln bid $22 for a cake, and won it!  He then went home and counted out $22 in quarters from his skull bank to pay for it.  Lincoln got to go to work with his dad one day this week.  Lincoln played on the computer, played the playstation, and watched movies.  It was a great day!
