February This and That

We have been pretty busy this month!  Lincoln has been practicing hard to learn the part of Oberon for his 2nd grade class production of  A Midsummer Night's Dream.  In fact, he used some of his lines to audition for the Playmakers (the group that did Seussical last year) production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.  He also sang "I've been working on the railroad" as his audition piece.  Lincoln had a fever of 101 the morning of the audition, and I called to see if he could reschedule.  But while I was on the phone, Lincoln said, "Nothing is going to keep me from getting a part in this play."  So, he took some Tylenol, went down to the theatre, and did a great audition.  His efforts paid off, and he will be an Ishmaelite, and in the chorus for the show.  I tried to get him to do his audition pieces on camera for the blog, but no go.  Clearly the artistic processes are delicate and should be respected absolutely.  We will just have to wait for the finished product.  The middle of May for his class production of A Midsummer Night's Dream, and March 23-28 for Joseph.

Marina has also been practicing hard for the ballet Midsummer Night's Dream.  She is a fairy, and has rehearsal every week.  That performance will be April 1-2, and she can hardly wait.  She really likes when she has rehearsal with all the older dancers (It's the junior ballet, so most of the participants are 20 or younger) because they are such good dancers.  It's fun to watch her watch the dancers.  Here is a video of her at dance class.

But no matter how serious of a ballerina, Marina still loves to have fun.   I'm thinking we have a great Halloween hairstyle.  We just have to find a costume to go with the hair.
